Bradley School North Launches Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) Program

September 26, 2016

Dear Families,

We are so excited to announce the start of our new, school-wide, Positive Behavioral Interventions and Support (PBIS) Program!  Our symbol is a star and our slogan is “Reach for the Stars”.  We have developed the acronym below, to outline the five character traits that we will be focusing on throughout the school year.

  • Show Kindness
  • Try your Best
  • Act with Awareness
  • Ready to Cope
  • Stay Safe

As you can see, each character trait is identified with a specific color.  Students will be receiving colored stars throughout the school day when they exhibit any of these character traits.  The stars will serve as a reward, recognition, and the opportunity to win prizes, have fun events, etc.  We had an assembly today to kick off the program, and will be having Spirit Week next week, Monday September 26 through Friday, September 30!  We have lots of fun activities planned, and are asking for your help in getting your child into the spirit!!  We would like students to wear things each day that represents the character trait we will be focusing on that day.  The schedule is listed below:

Monday - wear GREEN and get ready to SHOW KINDNESS

Tuesday - wear BLUE and TRY YOUR BEST all day

Wednesday - wear ORANGE and learn about AWARENESS

Thursday - wear PURPLE and READY TO COPE with fun strategies

Friday - wear YELLOW and STAY SAFE

Again, we are so excited for Spirit Week, and to kick off our new program!  PBIS works best with lots of support and really incorporating these key values into the students’ daily lives.  Feel free to use these phrases with your child at home; they certainly will be hearing them a lot throughout their school days!

Thank you for your support!
